Having substantially expanded its in-house development team, launched an original IP in Spectrobes and acquired Marvel over the past few years, it looks like Disney is ready to take the next step in becoming a power in video game development.
CNBC is reporting (via Joystiq) that the media giant has hired Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian to oversee creative development across Disney’s in-house development teams. Seropian had previously left to create Wideload Games, which is also being acquired by Disney.
“We want to be bigger than what we are today – a lot bigger than what we are today,” said executive vice president and general manager of Disney Interactive Studios Graham Hopper.
After being denied classification in Australia due to violence, drug use and sexual references, the brand new RPG Risen from Deep Silver & Piranha Bytes is now confirmed for release in New Zealand with an R16 Rating.
Available for Xbox 360 and Windows PC, Risen is an open-world action RPG and tells a deep and interesting story in a simulated, gritty medieval fantasy world in which magic is still common.
After the power of the gods has vanished from the world strange events start to happen, forces of nature go wild, people disappear and huge monsters attack towns and villages.
Risen features an action-packed combat system, new unique magic spells and class-free character development.
Once again we are offered another episode in the ever growing Star Wars franchise. This time the game targets the story gaps between Season 1 and Season 2 of ‘The Clone Wars’ TV series.
You can play as any one of the major Jedi characters, or as a Clone Trooper, while you “take on a multi-faceted adventure to stop a mysterious Techno Assassin’s destructive plot”.

We alluded to it in our PSPGo review recently, and now we have some definitive answers.
Coinciding with the October 1st Launch of the PSPGo, Polophony Digital will be offering a free exclusive copy of the new Gran Turismo for the PSPGo.

After months of waiting, Batman is finally here. There have been only a couple games released so far this year that caught my eye, and frankly I have been a little disappointed with them. But I knew in my heart of hearts that Batman wouldn’t let me down, Batman always delivers, well… except for some of those awful movies.
Batman Arkham Asylum is a sandbox rendition of the island institute with a linear propelled story. Similar in some ways to Mirrors Edge you have to get from A to Z but you can choose what letters you want in between. The controls are intuitive and easy to pick up so travelling around as Batman actually feels pretty authentic, you don’t fall off buildings and die, they only mapped relevant spaces so you don’t get lost in amongst a labyrinth of hallways and if you miss a jump and fall into a bottomless pit or cloud of Jokers gas you can hit the grappling button and escape your doom. If this all sounds to easy or sounds like they have padded the walls to keep you safe let me remind you, YOU’RE BATMAN!
