This is a press release straight out of CES, the really interesting part (which I’ve highlighted in bold) is that it’s coming to New Zealand. Of course, we already have a limited number of films on demand via the Zune service, but this would suggest that New Zealand will be getting the entire range of films and other premium content. More interestingly, the press release mentions Last FM, but not specifically in connection with New Zealand. You can download the full press release. The press release mentions this service coming online Fall 2010, which would indicate that it’s Fall US time, or later this year. That’s a while away, but I guess good things come to those who wait. At Sony’s CES press conference today, Sony Computer Entertainment chairman and group CEO Kaz Hirai announced that Sony will be using the base platform of the PlayStation Network to build a more company-wide service that will be available for their other consumer electronic platforms, starting with the premium video store next month.
Hirai described the announcement as “leveraging the PSN platform” for other Sony consumer electronic products, including internet-connected Bravia TVs and Blu-ray players, as well as VAIO and Windows PCs. As mentioned, the expansion starts next month with the availability of the PSN video store on these other devices, and Hirai explained they are constructing a mechanism to create a single user ID across the entire network (if you have a PSN account, it’s good to go on any other applicable Sony device, and if you create one on another device, it’ll work on PSN). And finally, Hirai also announced the formation of a new Sony division — called Sony Network Entertainment, Inc. — to drive this expansion of the PSN service into a Sony-wide network. Below is a list of games and a update from the EA website.
The following is an important update regarding online service for some older EA titles.

So I was hanging out with some friends playing Modern Warfare 2 last night, when I noticed otenic’s side arm was on his back. This seemed like an odd location to have a side arm, by definition of it’s very name, it should be holstered on your side, in easy reach of you hand, right? But then I guess with a side arm THAT big, you might not be able to find a holster big enough. It looks like Infinity Ward have made a side arm that can take out tanks…
UPDATE:

Proportionally it does fit with a picture of a .44 Magnum found on wikipedia, but it still looks awfully big on otenics back. Surely having it holstered would be more realistic and not look so out of place though?
The first details of EA’s Medal of Honor reboot have emerged online. Only five, and nothing really unexpected, but still, this is one of two games releasing this that might just make Infinity Ward wake up and fix Modern Warfare 2. Read the rest of this entry »
Now that we’ve looked forward to the year ahead, it’s time to look back and remember the best gaming moments of the last ten years. And yes, we do know that we’re about to open a can of worms, because ten games over ten years means that some one will get annoyed that we missed out the best game ever, or included the worst game ever. Sigh. Read the rest of this entry »
2010 is looking to be a bit of a cracker year as far as gaming goes, so rather than do our usual what’s hot this month, we figured we’d do a what’s going to make this year so damn awesome list. But a couple of things to think about before we let you start reading. First, and this should be obvious to any gamer by now, release dates are never set in stone. Second, this is not an exclusive list, there are other games out there that may be worthy of being on this list, it’s just that we didn’t think of them when we were typing this list. Sorry.
