disneyHaving substantially expanded its in-house development team, launched an original IP in Spectrobes and acquired Marvel over the past few years, it looks like Disney is ready to take the next step in becoming a power in video game development.

CNBC is reporting (via Joystiq) that the media giant has hired Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian to oversee creative development across Disney’s in-house development teams. Seropian had previously left to create Wideload Games, which is also being acquired by Disney.

“We want to be bigger than what we are today – a lot bigger than what we are today,” said executive vice president and general manager of Disney Interactive Studios Graham Hopper.
